If you’re interested in modern design and architecture, you should take in the West Coast Design Home Tour offered through the West Vancouver Museum. The tour is scheduled for Saturday, July 13, 2013 and highlights mid-century and modern architecture with a tour of 5 private North Shore homes. The tour is followed by a reception at Eagle Harbour Yacht Club serving appetizers by West Vancouver restaurants. This unique opportunity allows visitors to experience the interiors, views and gardens of some fabulous homes.
One of the things that makes this event so special is that the homes are not revealed until a few weeks before the event. Last year’s tour included West Vancouver architect Ned Pratt’s British Properties home which had just been renovated by his architect son Peter Pratt. Ned Pratt was one of the designers of the Electra Building (Former B.C Hydro Building) as well as many others.
Last year’s participants were given full access to 4 other homes including 2 Arthur Erikson designs. Although the list of homes has not yet been announced, my secret sources tell me that there will be at least one Rhon Thom and for the first time on tour, a Barry Downs Design.
I look forward to seeing you there!
